Programming Services offered by Computer Information Services

What can programming services do for you?

As our world gets bigger, it is important to share and manage data in a number of different ways. One way is to provide access to databases through the use of web-based interfaces, or GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces). To aid in this sharing, SOESD employs two programmers in our Computer Information Services department to fill the growing needs of our region. To date, along with a number of internal solutions, SOESD has programmed two solutions that are available to our region's schools and districts. If you are interested in the implementing any of these solutions in your region, please contact the Computer Information Services department head by calling 541-858-6730 or toll free 866-858-6730.

PD Networks, a Professional Development solution, tracks PDUs and allows people to easily manage event information, signups and attendance, as well as letting potential attendants view events and sign up for classes online. PD Networks is currently used by both Medford School District and SOESD. To see an example of the sign up pages for PD Networks, go to http://www.soesd.k12.or.us/pdnetworks/.

SOESD Regional Call Center is a support management tool that allows technical support staff to create and track support requests for their clients. SOESD Regional Call Center is used by Three Rivers, Prospect, and Rogue River School Districts, as well as SOESD, to manage their technical support needs. To see the Call Center login, go to http://helpdesk.soesd.k12.or.us/.

Introducing Veronica Francis and Ben Davol

Veronica Francis (HTML, PHP, MySQL) Veronica Francis received her BA in Geology from Pomona College in Southern California. In the last decade, she has worked as a Web Manager/HTML programmer for a non-profit company in L.A., a cold-fusion programmer and then a Quality Assurance Engineer for a web-based software company in San Francisco, and as an HTML/PHP/MySQL programmer here with the SOESD. With the SOESD, she has written a PDU Tracking and Event Management tool (PD Networks) as well as the new SOESD Regional Call Center and the SOESD Survey Tool with Ben Davol.

Ben Davol (C++, Visual Basic, HTML, PHP, MySQL)

Ben Davol received an AA in Computer Hardware Design from OIT and his BS in Computer Science with a Minor in Psychology from Southern Oregon University. He has implemented a number of vital solutions for the agency, such as packaged VNC clients that allow technicians to remote control clients from Klamath Falls to Roseburg and everywhere in between. He has also programmed the SOESD Survey Tool and the SOESD Regional Call Center with Veronica Francis.

Training available to everyone in our region

In addition to the web-based tools that we offer to our region, we also have a training specialist who will train your employees on using the system. Larry Francis has been training educators in our region for 10 years, and has, in the last three years, specialized in technical training for commonly used applications, as well as our homegrown web solutions and Project As Site-In-a-Box web content management system. For a look at the handouts that he uses in his training sessions, visit www.soesd.k12.or.us/support/training.
