New Courses Offered at Oregon Online
Oregon Online has several new courses in its lineup. Classes added for Fall include Careers 2 and Digital Media, and a course in HTML/web design will be added for Winter semester.
Careers 2 is the second of two one-semester courses designed together to provide students an opportunity to meet the required Career Learning Standards, activities, and experiences necessary to meet the Oregon diploma requirements for 2007. Each Careers course requires a minimum of four hours of job shadowing experience, to be arranged by the student.
Digital Media introduces students to a variety of photographic and digital editing techniques, and also includes an introduction to audio editing and multimedia. Although the software used for this course is free, students will need to be able to download and install it on the computers they use for the course. (Note: Students need access to student-generated digital photos through use of a digital camera or digitized film photos—please call for details.)
The HTML/web design course, to be offered Winter/Spring semester, will provide students with introductory knowledge of HTML and web design skills and terminology. Again, although the software used for this course is free, students will need to be able to download and install it on the computers they use for the course.
Both Digital Media and HTML/web design classes will be offered for 2+2 credit through Rogue Community College. Oregon Online is continuing to work with RCC and SOU to articulate more courses for college credit. Other courses currently available for 2+2 are Economics, Personal Finance, and Health 2.
