Childhood care and education workers are mandated by the State of Oregon (ORS 419B.005-419B.045) to report suspected or possible child abuse and neglect. As a mandatory reporter, if a provider has reasonable cause to believe a child is or has been abused they must make a report for further assessment. Upon receipt of the report, child protective services or law enforcement will do an assessment.
Child Care Providers are required to take training in Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse in the State of Oregon.
