About Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Southern Oregon
In an on-going effort to help foster and support the highest quality secondary and post-secondary programs and instructors we offer the following services:
CTE Program Review (formerly called the Annual Program review)
Each fall the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) opens an electronic link allowing high schools to verify or modify curriculum information for their CTE Programs of Study. When high schools in the SOESD region submit their CTE Program Reviews, they are routed to the SOESD CTE department for approval and final submission to ODE.
Program of Study Approval Process
The CTE department assists teachers and administrators in the SOESD region to design, develop, and improve programs to meet federal and state guidelines.
State Approved Programs
A complete listing of all current state-approved Programs of Study is available by clicking the link above.
Instructor Appraisal Process
Individual may be licensed to teach in state-approved CTE Programs of Study through a committee process overseen by the SOESD CTE department. A joint application is submitted by the school district and the prospective instructor to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) upon completion of the process.
Staff Development and Technical Assistance
SOESD has compiled a listing of professional development activities throughout our region. In addition, the CTE department offers targeted staff development and technical assistance based on school and district needs.
Students in SOESD region high schools can earn college credit for high school courses articulated with Rogue Community College, Klamath Community College, Southern Oregon University, and Oregon Institute of Technology, as well as other institutions.
