Songbirds, Science, and Outdoor Schools
In partnership with Klamath Bird Observatory
Age Group Served: 4th -6th grades
Type of Program: Classroom presentations (3) and Outdoor Field Trips (2)
Subjects Addressed: Adaptations, habitats, ornithology and ecology.
Students will begin the program by discovering how adaptations help birds survive in the wild and comparing and contrasting the many habitats of DCC. The winter classroom visit will focus on bird identification. During the spring field trip students will be introduced to the exciting world of scientific field research, interacting with ornithologists to see how birds are captured and how data is collected before their release.
