In the fall each high school principal receives from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) the CTE Program Update document, which lists the state-approved Career and Technical education programs and courses offered at the high school.
The school administrator and CTE program staff examine the CTE Program Update for correctness and completeness. The corrected program information is entered into the ODE OPTE-MIS (Oregon Professional Technical Education Management Information System) data reporting software to produce reports for the current year.
Each district has a Security Administrator who supervises the maintenance of correct district data on the web site. Program information may be corrected there. The Security Administrator possesses the password for the school district.
An incomplete or incorrect Annual Program Review will result in problems in the spring when using the OPTE-MIS software for reporting purposes. For example:
High school credits must be reported in Carnegie units on the Annual Program Review.
If an instructor teaches several course levels in the same class period, those courses each need a separate course number to establish scope and sequence for the program (e.g., 510 Metalworking I, 520 Metalworking II) and allow students to receive proper credits.
