“The Caterpillar” presents “I Can, Toucan, We All Can: Help Our Changing World”
Age Group Served: Kindergarten through 5th
Type of Program: "The Caterpillar” is a unique mobile science and nature center within a 32’ RV, providing students with hands-on activities and supporting displays linked to a new theme and curriculum each year. This year our program is “small things children and families can do in our changing world and the science behind them.” Older students visit stations on endangered animals, alternative energy, carbon cycle and greenhouse effects, plant cycle, and reduce-reuse-recycle. Younger students will have an age-appropriate program; groups will star in a series of endangered animal puppet shows and learn about plants—their importance, uses, and their cycles. They will make a plant stake with seeds to plant (take home).
Subjects Addressed: Check each year for the new theme. Past themes have included “Rock’ n ‘Roots,” “Night and Day,” “Adaptations,” “Riddles in Biodiversity”, “The Wonders of Water,” “Invisible Waves” and “Land of Y” (Scientific Experimentation), and “Cycles”.
